Qualnetics Defines The Art Of Telematics Engineering
A large part of Qualnetics' focus is on the telematics field. Our chief architect, Mark Moeller, was a co-founder of the Microsoft Automotive Group. And he applies that engineering experience to help devise innovative telematic devices, especially for commercial fleet management, tracking and diagnostics.

We've helped develop engine control modules as well as wireless communications systems that provide GPS vehicle tracking and route planning.

Client Projects
Qualnetics, was key in the development of Delphi's Truck Productivity Computer. This is a full-featured information system for fleet management, fleet diagnostics, and mobile productivity improvement for commercial vehicles.

We were engaged by Delphi to help them engineer a set of solutions based on the Delphi Truck Productivity Computer. By carefully analyzing the platform, we were able to deliver engineered solutions that centered on:
  • Resolving vexing in-field reboot and system crash issues
  • Resolving GPS chipset, Flash File System, Reset Circuit and other issues
  • Implementation of remote diagnostics
  • Management of in-field testing
  • Development of new feature requests
  • Overall forensic analysis of the project
Developed using Windows' Automotive OS, Truck PC fits in a standard-sized radio package but provides a wide array of features, such as an interactive text-to-speech system, information on demand, and enhanced entertainment.

For Wireless Matrix, Qualnetics embarked on developing a robust Vehicle Telematics Communication Unit (VTCU), based on the Centrality Atlas chipset. We architected and developed a complete finished product, from product inception to prototyping to market-ready product. The VTCU unit utilizes a number of wireless communication protocols, which are then able to communicate vehicle bus metrics to fleet operations or service organizations.

We provided a range of development services for Wireless Matrix:
  • Software Architecture Review
  • BSP Performance Analysis and Recommendations
  • System on Chip (SoC) Architecture Design Review and Recommendations
  • Performance Optimized Drivers:
    • DirectDraw
    • Compact Flash / ATA Card
    • UART / RS232 Driver

Qualnetics has intimate knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows for Automotive (WmfA) and, more importantly, knows how to engineer telematics solutions. We fully appreciate the unique and harsh environment that would bear upon an embedded automotive platform.

While our CE experience is robust, we also comprehend telematics deployment issues like: mean time between failures, remote diagnostics, field upgradeability, fault tolerance, safety critical UI design, and a myriad of other systems issues.

Our experience allows us to accurately assess your platform requirements and propose high-level hardware and software architectures designed to bring your product to market as efficiently as possible.

Talk to us about your telematics requirements.
